Cameroon vs Croatia 2014 World Cup Preview

Cameroon and Croatia both suffered losses in their opening games at the 2014 World Cup and their clash at Arena Amazonia in Manaus this morning is a must-win game for both sides.

The scoreless draw between Brazil and Mexico this morning means that both sides are on top of Group A with four points and if either Cameroon or Croatia lose when they clash at 8am (AEST) on Thursday morning they will be eliminated from the competition.

Croatia opened the scoring against Brazil in the 2014 World Cup opener and generally played well throughout; with bookmakers very confident that they can keep their hopes of progressing to the second round of the tournament alive with a victory over Cameroon.

This will be a unique experience for the Croatian side, as Croatia have never previously faced an African side in the World Cup, but they will be very confident that they can leave the Amazon with all three points.

Cameroon will be without captain and their best player Samuel Eto’o, but that may not be as big a loss as it seems for the side as Eto’o has often failed to gel with his teammates at international level.

Bookmakers have reacted strongly to the withdrawal of Eto’o and Cameroon are now out to World Cup odds of $5.50 to upset Croatia with Ladbrokes.com.au, while punters looking to bet on the draw will receive a quote of $3.80.

There does not appear to be a great deal of value in the head-to-head betting markets for this clash, although Croatia could be worth an inclusion in a multi bet, but there is a number of exotic bets that are available at Ladbrokes Australia that are worth a play.

It is rare to see Croatia record a big win over their rivals and, based on their performance against Mexico, look as though they will struggle to score, meaning that the $7 on offer for a Croatia 2-0 victory is well worth a look.

Croatia are also available at odds of $2 to keep a clean sheet, remembering that Cameroon are missing their star striker, and the $2.4 for Croatia to win the game to nil is another good bet.

Leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au are offering a wide range of betting markets on every single game during the 2014 World Cup.
